Poor sleep can increase your chances of getting sick after being exposed to a virus.

Without adequate sleep, the immune system does not get a chance to rebuild, and becomes weak. Poor sleep is associated with a reduction in the number of T-cells, white blood cells that help the body to fight the disease. Many studies show that people who don't get enough sleep (less than seven hours per night) or that you don't get a good night's sleep are more likely to suffer from diseases like the common cold.
